A hearing to determine whether a local barmaid badly injured in a hotel explosion can seek damages was due to start this week.
Danielle Ormond was working as a barmaid in the Drumtochty Arms in Auchenblae when it was destroyed by a blast more than three years ago.
Miss Ormond, who was 26 at the time, suffered multiple injuries including a collapsed lung, fractured vertebrae and post-traumatic stress disorder. She is now seeking a six-figure sum in compensation from the hotel’s owner and gas contractor, Instant Catering Maintenance, who was believed to be in the building at the time.
This hearing, which is taking place at the Court of Session in Edinburgh, will look at evidence to make sure there is a case to answer before it proceeds. If the hearing is successful it is understood a civil trial has been provisionally scheduled for January 2014.
