Cycling review

LOCAL cyclists are being encouraged to put forward their views and ideas on how to improve cycling along the Mearns coast from Catterline to St Cyrus.

It is hoped that with the help of keen riders, the conditions for cyclists in the area can be improved and, as a result, more people will be encouraged to use their bicycles as a form of transport.

The review of cycling routes in the area is taking place under a review of community transport provision in the area being carried out by the Mearns Area Partnership.

Project worker Tony Archer said: “We live in an isolated area and are very reliant upon transport of one form or another to get us from A-B. Cycling is looked upon by most people as a recreational pursuit but there could be potential for bicycles to be used as part of an integrated transport network if certain resources were in place.”

A drop in session will be held for any cyclists wishing to discuss cycling issues at the Inverbervie Library on Saturday 30th July from 10:30-12.
