A Stonehaven couple are celebrating this week as they mark their Diamond wedding anniversary on Thursday (September 10).
George and Eva Swapp were both brought up in Stonehaven and remain in the town till this day. and were married on September 10 1955.
After a fulfilling career in the RAF, George was awarded an OBE in 1984. On retiring from the RAF George became an elected member of Grampian and Aberdeenshire Councils. At the same time he was offered and accepted the role of Deputy Lieutenant for the area.
Eva trained to be a teacher whilst being a supportive wife and mother - no mean feat!
Together George and Eva have a real love of the outdoors and have always enjoyed hill walking and taking pleasure from the natural surroundings.
They have four children and eight grandchildren all of whom will attend the Anniversary celebrations on the 10th.
