Eileen McCallum returns to the Mearns
Eileen McCallum, star of screen and stage will be making a welcome return to the area as part of the Mearns Connection Festival.
The actress who played Meg Menzies from Lewis Grassic Gibbon’s Smeddum will be a part of Saturday nights entertainment as the festival runs August 7-8.
The evening promises to be a wonderful evening of nostalgia and entertainment as Eileen is joined by local legend Jim Brown chairman of the Grassic Gibbon Centre.
Eileen is possibly best known for playing Isabel Blair in Take the High Road from 1980 to 2003. Other notable roles she has played include Dolly in the television version of Tony Roper’s play The Steamie and guest appearances in programmes such as Taggart, Rebus, Still Game and New Tricks.
In conversation with Jim Brown, Eileen will talk about her professional life as an actress, her portrayal of the unconquerable Meg Menzies, her love of the writings of Lewis Grassic Gibbon and the effect on her and her family of her two young grandsons, Milo and Daniel, being diagnosed with the debilitating condition.
