In the first two weeks of the electoral canvass 2015, 75,000 households in Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen and Moray have responded.
Canvass forms for the revised electoral register that will be published on 1 December 2015 were issued to every household in Scotland earlier this month.
This is the first canvass of every household since the introduction of the new system of individual electoral registration last year, as well as the first following the new law reducing the voting age in Scotland to 16. Householders must respond to the forms that ask whether the details of those living in each household are correct.
Grampian Electoral Registration Officer, Ian Milton, explained: “If households want to avoid a reminder being issued to them in September, they need to ensure they respond to their canvass form as soon as possible, ideally before Friday, September 4.
“Over half of those who have responded have used the secure online response service that allows them to provide the necessary information in a matter of minutes. Households that do not have internet access may also respond by text, phone or completing and posting the form.”
