Claire Gaskin (formerly Middleton) returned to Stonehaven Sea Cadets on Monday, September 21, to present a cheque for £500 towards from the Nautical Institute, North of Scotland Branch, towards funding the development of a new headquarters for the Stonehaven Unit. The cheque was received on behalf of the Unit by Junior Cadet Mia Paul.
Claire Middleton was a sea cadet at Stonehaven during the late 1980s/early 1990s and was a member of the girls rowing team who won the National Girls Open Rowing Championship Title in 1991. Claire went on to serve in the Merchant Navy for 15 years gaining her Master’s Certificate.
Stonehaven Sea Cadets have so far raised £260,500 towards the target of £350,000 required to develop a new headquarters at their premises on Marischal Street.
