Local residents are invited to view and give opinions on future plans for Scotland’s largest planned new town this weekend.

The Way Ahead open day on Saturday, April 16 will provide the Chapelton Community as well as those living within the areas surrounding Stonehaven, Newtonhill and Portlethen with the chance to make their comments on the next stage of the North East’s newest settlement.

Directors from Elsick Development Company (EDC), which is leading the 8,000 home development, along with three housebuilders, AJC, Stephen and ZeroC will be on hand to receive feedback from 11am – 4pm in the town’s Community Cabin.

Speaking ahead of the event, The Duke of Fife, Director of EDC, said: “Following the success of the first stage of Chapelton’s initial neighbourhood, Cairnhill, we are quickly working towards the development of the second stage and welcoming feedback from local residents for this exciting section of the development.

“In the coming months work is set to commence on a wide range of properties, including bungalows, apartments and houses. Future ideas also include the development of a retirement village, pub and additional commercial properties which will serve the local community and provide a variety of job opportunities.

“I look forward to hearing feedback from local residents regarding our proposed plans and taking their thoughts into consideration as we develop the next stage of Chapelton.”

Over 70 homes are now occupied with a couple of commercial properties including a nursery already open.
