Fettercairn Public Property is to kick start its fundraising efforts for 2015 with a race night in the village hall next month.
The fundraiser, on Saturday, March 7, will add to funds already raised to carry out essential repairs to the external stonework of the village hall, in the 125th anniversary of its opening.
Money has already been set aside for urgent roof repairs and for painting the windows. All the required work will take place over several years, and the committee is actively seeking other sources of funding to help them carry out all the necessary stuff as soon as funds allow.
The committee is looking to the residents of Fettercairn to support them in this fund-raiser, with their usual enthusiasm and commitment. The committee needs to raise an extra £2000 this year, over and above their normal fund-raising efforts.
At a recent committee meeting several individuals and user groups agreed to sponsor a race night, by providing a bottle of spirits for the race winners.
Helen Thomson, F.P.P.C. chairperson, said: “We really do need your help.
‘‘Fund-raising is the means by which we make any improvements to the hall and, in fact - as with most village halls - every hall let is subsidised in this way.
‘‘Without the fund-raising efforts of the community over the past 125 years, there would be no public hall.
“We nearly all rely on it being there in one way or another, whether for family gatherings, social gatherings, fund-raising or simply a place to meet with friends enjoying a club or activity. It is central to the village and its development.
“A race night is good entertainment. Bets are only 25p. Horses are on sale at £5 each and are available at the Fettery Shoppe and the Post Office or from any group representative or committee member, up to Friday, March 6.”
Tickets are also available at £2 each in the Fettery Shoppe, the Post Office or at the door on the night. Bring your own nibbles and drink, although there will be an interval where teas and coffees will be served. There will also be a raffle on the night.
