Final hurdle cleared for Open Air in the Square

OPEN air in the Square is set to be the biggest yet as the final hurdle was cleared this week and permission was granted for a Fairground to be held at the Leisure Centre.

Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee agreed unanimously to grant the Public entertainment license at their meeting on Tuesday.

There will now be a Fairground in place at Stonehaven Leisure Centre over New Year.

There will be around twelve rides there including; dodgems, bomber, waltzer and frogger as well as various stalls. There will also be an ice rink.

The opening hours of the Fairground will be Saturday December 29 2pm- 9:30pm, Sunday December 30 2pm - 6pm, Monday December 31 2pm - 9pm and Tuesday Januray 1 2pm - 6pm.

Further details regarding tickets and wristbands will be published next week.

The entertainment license for the Fairground is the final piece of the puzzle for the Open Air in the Square event on Hogmanay.

The event will see thousands of revellers in the Town to see the Red Hot Chilli Pipers play in the New Year. This will be on top of the thousands of people who turn out for the annual Fireballs Ceremony in the Town.

The event is now almost sold out and final preparations are in place. What’s for sure is that this Hogmanay is going to be the biggest in Stonehaven to date.
