Visitors to the recent Flower Festival at Luthermuir Church were greeted by 29 fantastic floral arrangements and displays, each representing the artists’ favourite hymns.
The church was filled with colour and perfume, with hardly a space in the small church where there was not an arrangement.
The festival was held over the weekend of May 29 – 31, and all those involved are agreed that the event was very successful, with a steady stream of visitors over the three days.
The arrangements were the handiwork of individuals and organisations, from the Luthermuir, Marykirk and Laurencekirk group of churches and beyond.
Inevitably, perhaps, many of the arrangements were based on some of the ‘good old hymns’, such as ‘Will your anchor hold?’ and ‘Amazing grace’.
Others reflected hymns of the late twentieth century, including ‘You shall go out with joy’, judiciously placed at the front door, for people to see as they left the church.
