FM Group gives Ury Estate contract to local firm

FM Group, the property developer behind the transformation of Stonehaven’s Ury Estate, has awarded a major contract for work on the site to local North-east firm, Nicol of Skene.

The Westhill-based company will install all infrastructure works on the multi-million pound project that includes a range of luxury family homes which have already received planning permission.

The development also includes a restoration of the estate’s historic mansion house into a centre-piece hotel and clubhouse for the proposed world-class golf development with a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course and proposals for retail and budget hotel adjacent to affordable homes.

Nicol of Skene will be responsible for the provision of roads, roundabouts and sewerage on the site, beginning with internal roads and drainage.

Richard Stott, managing director at Nicol of Skene, said: “We are proud to be involved in providing all aspects of the infrastructure on such a high profile, transformational project with significant economic benefits for Aberdeenshire. We expect to begin work early in the New Year with completion scheduled for the summer.”

Elsewhere on the site, work has already started on the restoration of the B-listed mansion house into a luxury hotel and clubhous.

The 18-hole championship golf course, an intrinsic part of the estate viability, will be created within the mature landscape setting of Ury Estate.
