Laurencekirk Business Club held their annual general meeting in Janaury at which a new committee was voted in .
The overwhelming drive among the group was to change the direction of the club, which will prioritize focusing on business-minded matters.
This priority will hopefully encourage new members to join and recruitment is paramount in driving the business club forward.
The new committee is represented by Ann Johnson (Blaze Manufacturing Solutions) as the new chairwoman, Fiona Moore (envirosurveying) as vice -chair, and co-shared with Janet Buxton.
Donna Allan (Impact Imaging) and John Phethean (Pave Graphics) will continue as club secretaries and Lynn Jones (Dizzy Rascals) with continue her role as treasurer for the Business Club.
The committee plans to change the face of the club and the focus will be on business advice and growth however small or large your company is, with guest speakers providing expertise and experience to help advise members.
This advice will include pension schemes, economic development, grants and funding available in the workplace, and chairwoman Ann Johnson has already arranged for Scottish Enterprise to talk to the group at the next meeting.
There was also a subcommittee formed to continue the organization of the annual bonfire event, building on the success of the last two years. There was great enthusiasm among the group and the new plans were very well received, the meeting finished with a cheese and wine evening which gave members an opportunity to do some informal networking and share business ideas.
Next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 24, at the Dickson Hall from 7.30pm. Come and join us, even if you want to give one meeting a try to see what it’s all about.
