On September 11, members of Fetteresso Church and the Fostering Network held a family-friendly sponsored walk to raise money for leading fostering charity, The Fostering Network.
The walk, which was organised by former foster carers and local residents, Gloria and David Potter, took place in the beautiful surroundings of MineralWell and Baird Park, Stonehaven, to coincide with another foster walk taking place in Glasgow’s Pollock Park.
Gloria and David, the organisers of the Stonehaven walk, said; ‘Bringing together people who really care about children and young people and have a spot in their hearts for children in foster care and those who care for them, is always an encouraging and fun thing to do. To walk together to raise money for the Fostering Network made the ‘journey’ doubly worthwhile.’
Sara Lurie, director of The fostering Network in Scotland, said; ‘We are extremely grateful to David and Gloria for organising the walk and to all the children and families who took part in the Aberdeenshire walk. Foster walks are a fantastic opportunity for a whole community to come together and celebrate the difference fostering makes, to highlight the need for more people to come forward to foster, and to raise money for The Fostering Network as we work to transform fostered children’s lives.’
The Fostering Network is the UK’s leading charity, dedicated to creating a better future for everyone who is fostered. The charity also celebrates the role of foster carers, and highlights the need for more people to foster.
