Fettercairn Public Property’s Gala Committee is celebrating the success of its Gala Events .
The gala activities raised a total of £2300 which includes a donation of £100 from the ‘Buzzing Bees’ Group in the village.
The committee wish to say a huge thank you to all the village organisations who came up trumps and gave their all - on not only one but on two Gala Days.
Committee member Helen Thomson said: “There has been a great willingness on the part of all the residents to support the Gala Committee’s efforts, and offers of help from people not on the Gala Committee has been particularly welcomed and appreciated.
“The money raised all goes towards the fund for the hall improvements to the outside of the building.
“This brings the funds for Phase 1 of the project to nearly £22,000 and is slightly ahead of what was expected at this time, in the fundraising calendar.”
The Public Property Committee has been further heartened by the news that West Mearns Church, as a support to the Public Property Committee and as an acknowledgement that the Public Hall is important to the church’s social and fundraising activities, is donating half of the proceeds of their Drop-in Cafe to the above fund.
The Drop-in cafe is held over the summer months in Fettercairn Church Hall on Mondays.
Members of the Committee are helping by working at the cafe and baking for the teas.
If anyone wishes to support this venture, helpers and donations of raffles are still sought.
The Drop-in Cafe opened on July 6 and raised the wonderful total of £295.00 on it’s first day with £174 of this money coming from the bric-a-brac alone.
