The popular Mearns visitor attraction is now open for the 2015 season.

The Centre, which is a not-for-profit social enterprise, has a Coffee Shop, Exhibition and Gift shop and is open every day between 10am and 4.30pm until the end of October.

Tickets for the annual supper of the ‘Friends of the Grassic Gibbon Centre’ on Saturday, March 28, are now available. The guest speaker this year is David E Johnston. David was born and brought up in Laurencekirk.

He retired from teaching to devote more time to painting. Like Grassic Gibbon, David is inspired by the Mearns, with its endless rhythms of the seasons.

Musical entertainment will be provided by husband and wife accordionist Wayne Robertson and fiddler/violinist Claire Telford. This year the Centre celebrates its 23rd year of being open to the public.

Isabella Williamson, Manager of the The Grassic Gibbon Centre, said: “An incredible achievement for the small rural community of Arbuthnott but only made possible through the support of its many ‘Friends’ some of whom meet together for the annual supper each year.”

Tickets for the supper cost £20 each and are available from the Centre.
