Investigations are to be carried out into the possibility of opening a multi million pound marina in Stonehaven Harbour.
Local community group, the Stonehaven Town Partnership, is behind the proposals to investigate the potential development at the busy harbour.
Members of the Kincardine and Mearns area committee this week approved the proposal to lend the partnership preliminary advice and technical assistance to support a feasibility study into the development of a marina.
Councillors gave their support but said that, for such a large project, the community must be at the forefront of the plans and that consultation must take place.
The scheme could cost in the region of £5-8million and potentially deliver an income of between £150,000 and £250,000 in berthing dues every year.
