Local yoga instructor, Louisa Craig, has recently had her Yoga School approved and accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals.
Louisa will be running Teacher Training Courses this year allowing those who attend to become certified LKY Childrens Yoga Instructors.
The first course is three weekends in LouisaYoga Studio in Laurencekirk - April 16-17, May 7-8 and June 18-19.
The training is for anyone who works with children: child psychologists, paediatric physiotherapists, paediatric occupational therapists, nurses, speech therapists, nannies.
Louisa said: “I have specialised in teaching kids yoga for over 13 years.
“My passion lies with children and I truly believe that yoga can really help make their lives so much happier and healthier.
“Teaching kids about yoga is not just about imitating animals with asanas (poses), but about creating a sanctuary that’s sustainable over time.
“As parents and teachers, we’re actually helping children develop a skill set that is going to build their character and build their ability to make decisions appropriately.
“Ideally I would like yoga to be part of the National Curriculum but as this isn’t possible for now I am looking to try and reach as many kids as possible to help benefit them and those around them physically, mentally, emotionally and socially,” she added.
The school has met the stringent requirements set by Yoga Alliance Professionals, demonstrating that the courses are of the highest standard and the graduates can use the title ‘Registered Yoga Teacher’ RYT as a sign of quality training.
