Kirktown Garden Centre in Stonehaven recently held a fund-raising disco/raffle for Alzheimer Scotland at the Station Hotel.

The event managed to raise £735 to help those with Alzheimers in South Aberdeenshire.

Brenda Mutch, the head chef at Kirktown Garden Centre, was the main driving force and organiser of the fundraiser.

The cheque was presented to Alzheimer Scotland staff at the Invercarron Resource centre last Thursday, July 4.

There were around 70 guests at the fundraiser which saw plenty of prizes in the raffle and music by Jacksons disco.

Brenda told the Leader: “It was really good to raise this money for Alzheimers Scotland.

‘‘I didn’t think we would have raised this amount at all.”

Sarah Duff, s,ervice manaager of Alzheimer Scotland said: “A huge thank you to all at the Kirktown Garden Centre and everyone who was involved with organising, attending and supporting the disco at the Station Hotel on May 31.

“We are just delighted with the amount of money raised - £735 is amazing and really will make a difference to the local South Aberdeenshire Service which provides support and services for people with dementia.

The service organises a range of different groups and activities for people with dementia and their carers, including hill walking and exercise classes.

All those groups rely on fundraised income so what a boost this money has given.”
