A ladies night charity dance held in Stonehaven Town Hall last month has raised £2340 for the ANCHOR Unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The hall was filled to capacity on Friday, June 13 with 175 ladies all enjoying the hits from the 60s through to the ‘‘naughties.’’

There was entertainment from singing trio ‘FEEVA’, an all ladies group from Glasgow.

Dressed as look-a-likes of Martha & The Vandellas, ‘Feeva’ opened with the Motown band’s 1964 hit ‘Dancing in the Street’ and, with such a vibrant tune, the dance floor was filled instantly.

‘Feeva’ continued with a list of songs from the Motown era including ‘Baby Love’ & Stop in the Name of Love’ (The Supremes) before changing into 70’s costumes of the ‘afro’ wigs and flared trousers. Shang-a-Lang (Bay City Rollers), Celebration (Kool & the Gang) and We are Family (Sister Sledge) were three of the many 70s hits that kept the dancers boogieing all evening.

During the interval, a raffle was held with prizes denoted by John Clark (Audi) Dundee & Aberdeen Physiotherapy, McGregors Consultancy, as well as donations from local Stonehaven businesses including Station Hotel, Belvedere Hotel, Buttercup Beauty, Kirktown Garden Centre, Villa Coffee Shop, Margaret McDonald Art.

A spokesperson said: ‘‘Our sincere thanks go to all these sponsors.’’

In part two of the show, ‘Feeva’ returned and wearing flimsy pastel coloured dresses performed an array of 80s hits including ‘Mamma Mia’ and ‘Dancing Queen’ (Abba) and their final change of costume to tight fitting black jumpsuits brought in the 90s & 00s singing ‘The Rhythm of the Night’ (Corona) & ‘The Key, The Secret’ (Urban Cookie Collective).

A wonderful evening of entertainment was had by all, with many ladies telling the organisers that these kind of evenings are needed more regularly!!

The spokesperson added: ‘‘We wish to thank all concerned including Hampton Associates for the design and printing of the tickets and posters.
