A Laurencekirk resident is set to start a marathon cycle this weekend to raise money for three charities.

Alan Slinger will be completing the Classic Lands End to John O’ Groats run on behalf of three charities.

Those are First Response Scotland, Cancer Research UK and Alzheimer Scotland.

The ride will take two weeks and will average around seventy miles per day.

All the costs of completing the run will be met by Alan and all donations will be split equally between the three recipient Charities.

Anyone wishing to donate can do so on line at just, then enter Alan Slinger, or donations can be made at the Tower Restaurant Laurencekirk.

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research.

Alzheimer Scotland helps people with dementia, their carers and families. Members include carers, relatives, people with dementia, professionals, groups and organisations.
