Lib Dems pick Waddell for election

The Scottish Liberal Democrats have selected John Waddell to contest Aberdeen South and North Kincardine in May’s Scottish Parliament elections.

The constituency, most of which was represented by former Scottish Liberal Democrat leader and Deputy First Minister Nicol Stephen until 2011, has been held by the SNP for the last five years.

Speaking to party members and supporters, John said “Our first priority is standing up for the people of the North East who have been ignored by the Central Belt focused SNP Government. Year after year the SNP has favoured the Central Belt at the expense of people in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Time and again SNP MSPs from the North East have put loyalty to their party above standing up for their constituents.

“As MSP for Aberdeen South and North Kincardine my first priority will always be this area. I will stand up for local people and our area - giving them the representation they deserve.

“I am in it to win it for the people of Aberdeen South and North Kincardine.”

The 2016 Scottish Parliament election is due to take place on Thursday, May 5.
