The search is on to find a budding young actor to share a role in the smash hit musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert at His Majesty’s Theatre.
Auditions will be held at HMT on Wednesday, June 19, to find a lad aged between seven and 10, with acting and singing experience (dance ability optional), to perform in the show between Tuesday, August 20, to Saturday, August 31.
Based on the Oscar winning movie The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, the musical is the heart-warming, uplifting adventure of three friends who hop aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship and end up finding more than they could have ever dreamed of.
The successful candidate will share the role of Benji, playing the age of between six and eight, the son of Tick/Mitzi and Marion.
His mother has brought him up to be sweet and open-minded and Tick makes the journey across the desert to spend time with him, having been away in Sydney for his early years.
The local young actor will need to live within 45 minutes travel time of the city centre theatre and parents/guardians will be required to get him to and from the rehearsals and performances, although chaperones will be provided at the venue.
He needs to be someone with confidence, good energy and concentration, and applicants should send a recent photo and cv, which must include details of age, height, any experience or training (Saturday school, drama/dance classes etc) and essentially information about where they live in relation to HMT, to : email@example.com
The feel-good international hit stars Noel Sullivan in the role of Tick/Mitzi and features a dazzling array of outrageous Olivier and Tony award-winning costumes and a hit parade of dancefloor favourites.
The production has won four WhatsOnStage.com awards, including Best New Musical.
