Maryculter Race night raises over £3000

Maryculter House Hotel’s first Charity Race Night raised £3,143.00 for Teenage Cancer Trust.

The evening Race Night with a difference included extensive audience participation where hobby horses raced to the finish line over water jumps to secure their bettors a fantastic win.

At the end of the night guests dug deep in an auction to purchase horses for the final race which saw the winning horse owner double their money.

Maryculter House Hotel, General Manager, Patrick Mercer said: “Cancer has touched the lives of so many people in our local community so we are delighted to have raised such a fantastic sum for this wonderful charity by hosting our first Charity Race Night.”

The hotel received support from local businesses including BP Garage Peterculter, Exclusive Entertainments, The Marcliffe Hotel, Corney and Barrow, Peterculter Golf Club, Deeside Photographics, Thainstone House Hotel, McKenzie Cottage and many more who donated prizes for the evening.

The money raised will help to fund the vital work of Teenage Cancer Trust which is the only charity dedicated to providing specialist care and support for young people when they need it most.

Melissa Pitkeathy, Fundraising Coordinator for Scotland and Northern Ireland said: “Every day, 7 young people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer and Teenage Cancer Trust has built specialist facilities within NHS hospitals which allow them to be young people first and cancer patients second. The Charity also funds specialist nurses and youth support coordinators to support the young people in these units.”
