Stonehaven Heated Open Air Pool is again offering the chance to ‘swim beneath the stars’ to the beat of disco music, as the first of the ever-popular Midnight Swims began this week.
Each Wednesday from July 8 until – and including – August 12, the popular swims offer a truly unique experience from 10pm until midnight, with doors open from 9.30pm.
“The midnight swims are a real sign that summer has arrived in Stonehaven,” said Vice Chair of the Friends of the Pool, David Culshaw. “Even if the weather is poor, the water is warm and fun is guaranteed! And of course, when the weather is good and the sky is clear, you really can swim beneath the stars.”
The Pool is also now open for peak season, which means longer opening hours and more fun for kids on the inflatable swoopee for the same good-value prices. Inflatable sessions are now daily from 2-4pm, quiet swims from 10-11am, the main chute ‘the shark slide’ open from 11am – 6pm and lane swimming available between 6pm and 7.30pm on weekdays. The Pool itself is open from 10am to 6pm at weekends, from 10am to 7.30pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and from 6.30am to 7.30pm Tuesdays and Fridays. The terraces are a real suntrap on good days and there are also awnings and a covered area for protection from the sun and whatever else the weather might bring.
“Let’s hope that the warmer weather is here to stay for a while,” continued David, “so that everyone can enjoy the Pool at its best. However, more and more people have been discovering the joys of swimming in the rain. If you’re in the Pool, rain can’t make you any wetter – and ducking down in the warm water is great when there’s rain on your back!”
