A motorcyclist has died following a collision with a van yesterday afternoon near Ferryden.
The accident happened on a blind bend on Craig Road, just outside Ferryden, at about 1.45pm on Monday (September, 28).
It happened around 500 metres from Ferryden Primary School and a short distance from where the road changes to the national speed limit.
The road was closed for several hours, reopening after 8pm, to allow a full investigation to be carried out and for the white Peugeot van and Honda motorcyle to be uplifted.
Debris from the motorbike was strewn across the road.
The driver of the van, belonging to Montrose carpenters and joiners Buchan and Coull, was uninjured.
The bonnet of the van was significantly damaged and its windscreen was smashed.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Sadly the male rider of the motorcycle died at the scene. The driver and only occupant of the van was not injured.
“The rider of the motorcycle will not be named until next of kin have been informed and the formal identification has taken place.
“A full enquiry is being carried out into the circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
“Tayside Division officers appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Police Scotland on 101 or speak to any police officer.”
