Motorcyclist dies in crash near St Cyrus
A 38-year-old man has died following a collision between his motorcycle and a car near St Cyrus last night.
The police have confirmed the identity of the motorcyclist as Eion Gordon Malcolm MacDonald, who lived in the St Cyrus area.
Police officers from Aberdeenshire attended the scene of the incident on the A92, north of St Cyrus, at around 7pm on Sunday, June 28.
The accident happened about one mile north of St Cyrus at the Tangleha turn off next to the caravan park.
A police spokesperson said: “A 38-year-old male motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries when his Triumph motorcycle was involved in a collision with a Seat Alhambra car.
“Emergency services pronounced the man dead at the scene and the 57-year-old male driver of the car was conveyed to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, with non-life threatening injuries.
“The road closed northbound at St Cyrus and southbound at the B9120 until approximately 1am on Monday, June 28, to allow Road Policing Officers to conduct their investigation into the cause of the collision.
“Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to contact police on 101.”
A report regarding the death will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
