The Maritime Rescue Institute lifeboat based at Stonehaven came to the aid of a lone sailor on Monday after he got into difficulty off the coast of Newtonhill.
The lifeboat was called out on Monday afternoon to a Catamaran sailing boat with just one sailor on board.
The boat was making its way round the coastline of Britain as part of a fund-raising event in support of young people’s charity Childline when it was passing this part of its adventure.
The sailor called for help when three miles off Newtonhill he started to take in water.
MRI 42 was launched and with five crew on-board, went to the aid of the sailor.
