New head at Auchenblae

AUCHENBLAE Primary School has a new head teacher.

Mrs Elsie Young took over three weeks ago as head of the 87-pupil, 4-teacher school, which also has a 25-pupil nursery.

After qualifying in 1979, Mrs Young taught for four years at Johnshaven Primary, then was two years at Mill o' Forest Primary.

For the past 17 years she has been at Laurencekirk Primary, first as a class teacher, then as assistant head then deputy head.

For four of these years (2004-08), Mrs Young has been on secondment, three years with Aberdeenshire Council, as an ICT project officer then a year with Learning and Teaching Scotland as a GLOW development officer.

Mrs Young says she is looking forward to the challenge of being head teacher at Auchenblae and getting to know the pupils and parents.
