Ex-First Minister and MSP for Aberdeenshire East Alex Salmond found himself in a bizarre situation when he tried to board a plane under a pseudonym - James Kirk.
The politician and self proclaimed Trekkie was initially refused entry onto his flight by British Airways amid security fears after he checked on as the Star Trek captain.
The Mail on Sunday reported that it took a series of telephone calls to persuade the airline that he should be allowed on board.
It is believed the incident lasted a couple of minutes before being sorted out.
Salmond, who often travels under different names for his own security reasons ,says he won’t be travelling under James Kirk again.
He told the Press Association: “Now that my cover has been blown by the Mail on Sunday, I will choose another Star Trek character”
