Brighter Bervie

From Thursday Aug 6, there are only 14 get-up and goes until the Beechgrove Garden TV cameras and presenters arrive for two days to feature the Bervie community project, the Voyage of Life Garden, located behind the Church Centre on King Street.

Our small and enthusiastic team of volunteers urgently need YOUR help to get the garden site ready before the two “weel kent” figures of Carole Baxter and George Anderson appear among us to help put the plants into place, followed shortly by the screening of the programme across the whole of the UK.

I’m sure you all want to prove what a vibrant community Bervie is, so please turn-out to make our garden a real showpiece that we can all be proud of, and one that many visitors and residents will want to come and see and enjoy. The potential benefit for Bervie is immense so don’t let this once in a lifetime opportunity pass us by.

The attached photo shows the TV production team visiting the garden site last week. They have high expectations that Bervie will do its best!

There are regular work sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 19.00h and on Saturdays from 09.00h, but from now until Thu 20th and Fri 21st Aug folk will be active in the garden every day. We’re looking for helpers with either brains or brawn - its a bonus if you can supply both.

Joinery and DIY skills are useful but not essential as are tools. We’re a cheery bunch so fun is guaranteed. Digging, raking and trowelling jobs are in abundance along with plant care and watering. Supposing you can only spare half an hour that’s a welcome and valuable contribution. Even if you yourself can’t help you must know folk who can, so please encourage them to join our happy band of volunteers.

On the filming days, Thu 20th & Fri 21st Aug, we need as many people as we can muster to help with the planting activities. So don’t be camera shy - you needn’t be a celebrity if you don’t want to but please come and be part of the fun action. Lets show the nation what Bervie can do.

Girl Guiding needs you!

Our units in Inverbervie, Johnshaven and St Cyrus are looking for adult volunteers to help with unit meetings. The Inverbervie Brownie unit will be sadly loosing a leader after the summer and we need volunteers to come forward to help the unit on a Monday night.

Volunteers don’t have to become leaders to help out and you don’t have to come each week to meetings but may want to help out once or twice a month.

You may have a skill that may help us out, perhaps you are good at admin or keeping finances?

If you are interested in helping out then please go to to find out more and register your interest.
