The Stonehaven bar and band of Marketeers have taken on a host of fundraising events this year, in memory of popular pub landlord Mark Anderson.

The Marketeers cycled Ride the North, a 170-mile cycling challenge from Inverness to Aberdeen, as part of a fund-raising campaign supporting the Maxillofacial Unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The bike ride was just one of many fund-raising initiatives over the year, including a pub quiz by Ride in the North, with the Marine Hotel helping to organise the bar, a ‘Cowboy and Indian’ evening organised by Ma Simpsons, and the annual Market Bar funday.

Terry Lowe, consultant maxillofacial surgeon, was on hand to receive the cheque from the group and said he was ‘very moved and extremely grateful’ to everyone involved.

He added: “This is another phenomenal charitable achievement, by this caring local community, in memory of Mark Anderson.

‘‘Over the last few years they have raised the profile of head and neck cancer treatment in our region, as well as generously donating much needed funds for the cancer service.

“I am very moved and extremely grateful to Lorna and the whole team for their unfailing support and generosity.”
