Staff at Giulianotti’s Ice Cream and Sweetshop on Evan Street will be raising funds for charity this weekend when they become Pirates on Saturday and Sunday in support of the RNLI.
It is perhaps not widely known, but Saturday, September 19 is the “ International Speak Like a Pirate Day”! Giulianotti’s staff members are going to enter into the spirit of the occasion by dressing up and speaking as ruthless plundering Buccaneers for all their customers, with the hope of persuading some to part with a few extra dubloons for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.
There will be competitions on the day for all ages. Kids can dress up as pirates for a chance to win a prize! Also Giulianotti’s are hoping there will be some brave souls who can “Speak Like a Pirate!” too - so practice your “Shiver me Timbers” and “Yo Ho Ho’s” and come along for some fun.
Also for children, there is a competition to “Draw your own Treasure Map” - Entries to be handed in on or before Saturday September 19. Please put your name , age and contact details on your picture.
There will be Pirate- themed ice creams for the weekend to chose from in the cabinet such as The Caribbean Blue , Old Jamaica Rum and Raisin and “Nay Scurvy Sorbet”.
