Following several break-ins and car thefts across Stonehaven and Maryculter Police Scotland have detained three males.

The Mearns Leader understands that two 24 year olds and a 18 year old have been detained by Police Scotland on Wednesday.

The incidents have all happened between Sunday and Monday last week, and the areas targeted include Brickfield Road, Burns Terrace, and the Westfield areas of Stonehaven.

A rural property in Maryculter was also targeted during the early hours of Monday, February 22, where a shed and a garage were broken into and items removed, as well as a domestic property that had car keys and two vehicles stolen.

One of the vehicles, a Range Rover Evoque, was recovered in Blackburn a short time later. A BMW coupe was also recovered by Police.

Sergeant Neil McHattie said: “We would like to speak to any person who might have information that could assist in identifying those responsible for these crimes or anything that would relate to these incidents. In particular we would appeal to local taxi drivers who would have been in these streets to come forward.

“We are also reminding residents in the Kincardine and Mearns area to remain vigilant and ensure all cars, dwellings and properties are kept safely secured overnight.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on the non-emergency number 101.”
