Stonehaven Town Hall Trust in a joint venture with Mearns FM are hosting an election debate with a difference next week.
The ten candidates who are contesting the Stonehaven and Lower Deeside seat in the Aberdeenshire Council elections on May 3 will have the opportunity to meet and be questioned by the local people of the Mearns.
Mearns FM Beat the Drum presenter Ken Venters told The Leader, “During the Westminster and Scottish elections I hosted a series of debates broadcast on Mearns FM on Sunday mornings between 10 and 12. All the candidates standing for election took part in the debates answering questions posed by listeners.
“The Stonehaven Town hall debate is a first for the Trust and Mearns FM. The meeting which is open to the public will also be broadcast live on Mearns FM.
“This is the first time the station has broadcast a public debate and we are hoping for a good turnout to help people make a choice of which candidate to vote for.”
The meeting is being held on Wednesday April 25 from 6 to 8 pm. Any member of the public can send in a question for the debate In advance to firstname.lastname@example.org alternatively question forms will be available at the town hall.
A final live election debate will be broadcast on Mearns FM on Sunday April 29 between 10 and 12.
