Portlethen pupils host race night for trip to Morocco

Portlethen pupils are preparing to hold a Race Night this coming Saturday to raise funding for a forthcoming expedition to Morocco.

The pupils are scheduled to go on their foreign aid trip to North Africa in June next year.

However, the pupils will first have to raise a certain amount of money, with their event happening at The Ashvale, Muirend Road, Portlethen at 7pm.

Pupil Rachel Paterson got in touch with us this week to tell us what the pupils will be doing in Morocco.

She said: “We will be carrying out various work there, such as helping improve languages in schools, renovating schools and helping with other local organisations.

‘‘This is a self-funded trip costing pupils around £2000 each.”

Rachel added: “We are being encouraged to raise this money through sponsored events such as Race Nights and Ceilidhs.

‘‘A fellow pupil and I have organised a fundraiser Race Night.”

Race night tickets cost £13 and include an Ashvale supper.
