Probus see video of rail journeys in Scotland

The second meeting of Mearns Probus Club for August was held in the Crown Inn, Laurencekirk, with President Ian Williamson chairing the meeting.

As a result of a late call off by the speaker because of a bereavement, it was decided to show a DVD on rail journeys in Scotland.

Three trips were filmed for this video, the first being the West Highland line from Glasgow to Mallaig, with a Black-Five steam engine hauling from Fort William to Mallaig.

The second was from Edinburgh to Aberdeen on the East Coast line, then continuing from Inverness to Thurso and Wick.

The third started at Dingwall and travelled across country by the Ravens Rock to Auchnasheen and Plockton to Kyle of Lochalsh.

All filming had been done professionally from the train or from a helicopter flying alongside resulting in excellent viewing of some of the best of Scotland’s landscape. Well worth viewing.

The next meeting will be on Monday 5th September in the Crown Inn at 10 am, business as usual from 10.30 am.
