SNP Aberdeen South and North Kincardine MSP, and former teacher, Maureen Watt, yesterday visited Portlethen Primary School after pupils asked her along to learn more about Scottish Independence.
The class, who on the previous Friday had visited the Scottish Parliament, first discussed all the things they had enjoyed about their trip, before placing Ms Watt in the firing line with their questions on how an Independent Scotland will shape up.
This was just the latest in a series of recent visits on the issue of Independence across her constituency, after Ms Watt made similar trips to Culter Primary School, and Portlethen Academy.
Commenting Ms Watt said: “I was extremely pleased to hear that the pupils at Portlethen Primary School were eager to know more about Scottish Independence.
“The questions which the pupils put to me were extremely thoughtful, and it is clear that this is a matter which is capturing the imagination of even the youngest within our society.
“They were keen to know the answers on a host of matters, from defence to health, and I was more than happy to reassure them that they will still be able to watch their favourite television shows!
Ms Watt added: “I am sure that this interest in Scottish Independence is being replicated across the length and breadth of Scotland, and it is testament to both parents and teachers alike that this is being encouraged.”
