Remembrance time

The 11th of November is Remembrance Day when people all over the world remember those who gave their lives in war and also those scarred by war.

There is a Garden of Remembrance at the war Memorial in Laurencekirk where you can place a cross in remembrance of a loved one. The crosses can be purchased at The Chemist, Family Friends or Church in Laurencekirk.

On Remembrance Sunday, 13th November, we gather to remember the lost and wounded, and pray for our service men and women serving in difficult parts of the world, doing their best to increase peace and stability.

There are gatherings in Luthermuir and Laurencekirk Churches then War Memorials. In Luthermuir Church at 9.30am, for worship, then onto Crosspoles War Memorial, also at Laurencekirk Parish Church at 10.45am, for worship, then onto the village War Memorial.

At Laurencekirk there will be present ex-service men from the Gordon Highlanders and also Scouts and Guides parading.

It is important today to remember the sacrifice of many in war to bring the peace we enjoy and contemplate the sacrifice many may have to make in order to keep this peace.
