Rotary boost for flood fund

Some 200 guests recently attended a celebrity dinner in the Thistle Hotel, Altens.

Hosted by the Stonehaven Rotary Club, object of the event was to raisie money for the Flood Relief Fund and the proposed Renal Dialysis unit at Kincardine County Hospital.

After the dinner, celebrity speakers Sheriff Lindsay Wood and media sports commentator Alison Walker entertained the guests with splendid after-dinner speeches.


Afterwards, it was followed by the main business of the evening - an auction.

Well known auctioneer, Ian Taylor, from Montrose ran the auction of the high-value items donated by friends and members of the Rotary Club.

Overall, the event raised £8000.

From this, £1000 was earmarked for the Flood Relief Fund and added to the £3000 already donated by the Rotary Club.
