Stonehaven Floral Art Club, celebrating its 40th year in 2015, is on the lookout for some new members to join them.
The club will be holding a garden party in May in Stonehaven Town Hall.
Ruby Buchanan, chair of the club, said: “We meet monthly on the third Wednesday in the Invercarron Resource Centre at 7.30pm where we sit back and enjoy watching the floral creations, conjured up by a variety of male and female demonstrators over the session.
‘‘We then raffle off these displays, have a cuppa and a chat, it’s very relaxing. New members always welcome.”
This month they had local demonstrator Jo Goldsworthy, doing the honours with her theme ‘Spring is in the Air’.
Ruby added: “She entertained us with stories about her half-hearted attempts at spring cleaning and did various beautiful arrangements to illustrate her progress.
‘‘The most amusing highlight for many was her ‘reward,’ a large ‘ice cream’ cone from Aunt Betty’s complete with multi-flavoured pistachio nuts and raspberry ripple and all done with flowers.
“Jo competes and demonstrates nationally. She also runs evening classes for flower arranging in Mackie Academy and is an honorary member of our club.”
“This year, we are celebrating our ruby anniversary, on Saturday, May 23, at 1.30pm, in style by holding a garden party in the town hall, complete with a top-rate guest demonstrator, Lorena Dyer, from south of the border.”
There are some tickets still available, priced £25 for members and £30 for visitors, welcome drink, souvenir and afternoon tea inclusive.
