Stonehaven Cadets hit the mark at shooting meet

Cadets from 1297 (Stonehaven) Squadron Air Training Corps recently took part in the Cadet Inter Service Skill at Arms Meeting (CISSAM).

The competition is for the top teams from each cadet service with a total of 280 taking part.

Held at the Army Training Regiment, Pirbright in Surrey, it saw 26 teams from both the Army and ATC compete.

The Stonehaven cadets tok part in four separate competitions.

They were - Rifle Pairs, Earl Roberts AMS, Montgomery of Alamein and the Marling, in which the unit finished third, third, 16th and seventh respectively.

In the overall competition, the Stonehaven Squadron finished a very creditable fifth out of 52 teams.

Four cadets F/Sgt Christian Avis, Sgt Keiran MacBeath, Cpl Ross Curley and Cdt Alistair Cunningham finished in the top 50 and were awarded the “Fifty” badges.

The Stonehaven cadets were delighted with their effort.

An additional bonus came when F/Sgt Avis was selected to represent the Air Training Corps in the Inter Services Final.
