Stonehaven lad shows big heart

A generous Stonehaven youngster has demonstrated a big heart for his 10th birthday.

Instead of asking for toys, video games or films, Ben Robertson decided instead that he would raise some money for a good cause.

At his birthday party, rugby-mad Ben asked all his friends to make donations to Stonehaven Flood Action.

Ben’s generosity and big heart raised a fantastic £140 pounds for the good cause.

Ben plays for the Stonehaven Mackie Minis P5 rugby squad.

Stonehaven Flood Action wanted to thank Ben for his generosity and arranged for the Mackie 1st team squad to sign a rugby ball, which was then presented to him as a thank you.

Ben, along with all the other members of the Mackie Minis from Primary 3 to Primary 7 will all be in action this coming weekend, Saturday, May 11, at the 12th annual Mackie mini rugby festival - one of the largest such events in the North-east.

Along with fantastic rugby there will be food and drink, a barbeque, kit to buy, and loads of other things to see so why not go up to the Mackie playing fields from 11am and give the children your support as they take on other clubs from as far afield as Stirling as well as more local rivals from Aberdeen and Ellon.
