Stonehaven Squadron Represents North East Scotland Wing

Two teams of Air Cadets from 1297(Stonehaven) Sqn represented North East Scotland Wing at the recent Inter Service Cadet Rifle Meeting which was held at the National Shooting Centre at Bisley. The competition this year attracted 116 teams from the Air Cadet and Sea Cadet Corps as well as the Army Cadet Force.

In the three main competitions the Frankfort Shield, Watts Bowl and the DSG Trophy the Stonehaven cadets came 7th,29th and 9th respectively,overall the Stonehaven team came a very respectable 15th. However in the individual competition three cadets from the unit’s ‘A’ team won the coveted Cadet Hundred Badge which is awarded to the top one hundred cadets in the competition. The three successful cadets were Cadet Warrant Officer Andy Low, Sgt. Joe Gray and Sgt Andy Matheson. Further success followed with Cadet Warrant Officer Andy Low and Sgt. Joe Gray being selected to represent the Air Cadet team in the Inter Services Final against the top cadets from the Sea Cadet Corps and Army Cadet Force.

The Squadron’s Commander Flt. Lt. Duncan Campbell said “The Stonehaven Cadets were a credit to the North East of Scotland Wing and produced the best ever performance in this event”
