Stoney friends win top business award

Long time Stonehaven friends Jo and Angie McGregor have scooped the Employer of the Year award at a recent ceremony.

The pair, who started McGregor Consultants in 2006, were celebrating after scooping the title of Employer of the Year at the Grampian Awards for Business Excellence last week .

Jo and Angie were presented with the award for the business “that can best demonstrate corporate success achieved through well adopted company values that stimulate, develop and support employees.”

The pair were at the award ceremony at Ardoe House last Thursday with all of their staff members.

The duo were also finalists in the prestigious Ernst and Young Scotland Entrepreneur of the Year 2013, which was held at Gleneagles Hotel earlier this month.

Jo and Angie, who are not related, first met while pupils at Mackie Academy in Stonehaven, where they still live.

They remained friends before they ended up working together for 10 years at another Aberdeen oil and gas consultancy.

McGregors have a team of 12 staff and were put forward for the award by their employees.

Director Jo said: “Our staff are the most valuable commodity we have.

“When we started the company six years ago, it was just Angie and I, but we now have this incredible team of people who have helped us build the company into what it is today.”

Angie added: “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award, which shows how committed we are to everyone who works with us.”

Jo and Angie would like to thank their parents and family for all the help they have had over the years and supporting them to grow the firm.

The Awards are open to small and medium-sized businesses in Aberdeen City and Shire.
