Reporters Rachel and Lee are ready to give your community group a helping hand

Here at the Mearns Leader and Kincardineshire Observer we want to thank everyone who takes the time out to help their community.

And that is why we want to highlight those groups which have done outstanding work throughout Kincardine and Mearns.

Last week we officially launch our ‘Thank You to the Volunteers’ campaign.

Do you know a group who have done some outstanding work in the community, or are you involved with one?

If so then get in touch with us because we want to speak to you!

We want to highlight your club, key members, what you do, what you’ve achieved and what you are aiming to achieve in the future.

We also want to help out!

Reporters Rachel Campbell and Lee McCann could spend a few hours with your club or organisation and write about the experience in the Leader and Observer.

Reporter Lee McCann said: “I am delighted to be a part of this campaign and look forward to being involved with the different community groups.

‘‘It will be so valuable to get some first hand experience of what these groups around Kincardine and Mearns do and how they benefit the community.

“We have already had a great response from some of the groups who are lining up to have us volunteer with them.

‘‘When this is published, I will have already been on Mearns FM to talk to them about our campaign.

“There are so many different volunteers in and around the area and to be able to showcase them, I think, is a fantastic way to garner an understanding of how to help the community.’’

Rachel added: “Volunteers are often the unsung heroes of the community, and I don’t think people always realise how much of the wonderful things that go on are achieved entirely by people giving up their free time to make it happen. We think it’s about time the spotlight was shone on them for once.

“I am really looking forward to finding out more about the volunteer groups in the area, and joining in and getting involved.

“Already we have had some lovely messages and invitations to get involved in a wide array of activities, but we are keen to hear from as many of you as possible.”
