Over the weekend of Friday 8th and Saturday 9th June, the Stonehaven Town Partnership are undertaking a community engagement project to allow the residents of the town to have their say on the things that matter to them.
This will be the first of a series of Planning for Real events across the town, each one focussing on a different area. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to place their comments and suggestions on a 3D model of the particular area of interest.
Planning for Real is a nationally recognised community planning process based on a three-dimensional model. The process encourages residents to register their views on a range of local issues, to work together to identify priorities, and in partnership with local agencies go on to develop an action plan for change.
These comments are anonymous and can be about anything which matters to them. Following each event, the comments and suggestions will be categorised and prioritised and will be used to create a Community Action Plan for Stonehaven.
Several other communities in Aberdeenshire have already carried out successful Planning for Real exercises with good ideas emerging from the process.
Douglas Samways, Chair of the Partnership said: “It is important for us as a community group to listen to the townsfolk to see what they want and (just as importantly,) what they don’t want in the town. These exhibitions will centre round particular areas and will allow folk to express their views on how they would like to see the town grow and develop. We have split the town into smaller bitesize pieces and the first exhibition will focus on Cowie.”
The exhibition will be in the green room at the Stonehaven Open Air Pool (South Entrance) on Friday 8th from 5.30pm to 8.30 pm and on Saturday 9th from 10.00am to 6.00pm.
All are welcome to go along. This is YOUR chance to have YOUR say. All visitors will receive a 50p voucher to redeem at the Pool or the Splash Café. Alongside the model, there will also be a number of displays providing information and advice related to the project.
