“Woman of the Way”

Thursday October 8, 7.45pm-9.45pm

Women of the Way is a group open to ladies of the parish. It meets fortnightly to learn more about God and discuss how members can apply their faith in their daily lives and to support one another. As well as studying the Bible, and a time of prayer, the group always have lots of fun at meetings. They have recently welcomed a number of new members, and are always delighted to have new people along. WOW meet in Arbuthnott at the home of one of the ladies.

Blythewood Care Uplift

For many years our Church members and friends have supported the wonderful work of Blythewood Care by Gathering donations of clothes, books etc for their monthly uplift from the Church Centre. We are pleased to continue this work throughout 2015.

The next collection will be on Wednesday October 14, 12 noon from Bervie Church Centre.

Blythewood Shoe Box appeal 2015

Arbuthnott, Bervie and Kinneff Church are once again Co-ordinating their local Shoebox Appeal, which sends Shoeboxes filled with simple gifts to children and adults in Eastern Europe and further afield, who would otherwise not receive any presents this Christmas.

Bervie Food Bank

Still collecting “The Back to School Bank”, The Bervie Food Bank is working together with the South Aberdeenshire Food Bank and The Trussel Trust which has Yellow Food Donation Collection bins throughout Bervie, including The Burgh Hall, Farquhar Street, Bervie Sports Centre, Kirkburn and Scotmid King Street for all Food Donations and New School Supplies.

The Foodbank can provide three days of emergency food supplies. If you find your self in Personal Crisis, illness, separation, homelessness, low wage or other circumstances please contact us now on Facebook, alternatively at Bervie food bank or call 07703154431 for more info.

Bannerman’s the Butcher – Grand Re-opening

Saturday October 3, saw queues on King Street steady during the morning as new Butcher Chris Hall (32) had a constant supply of excited customers. Gerald Bannerman’s recipe for pies went down a treat and were a sell out.

Chris said: “Today has been so busy, like Christmas eve in an Aberdeen Shop, its really exciting to see the local support for the shop and we will be selling Granda’s pies but we are hoping to bring in some new and exciting products too, using fresh ingredients and supporting local businesses too.”.

Hanover Court and Craig View

On Wednesday September 30, residents and friends enjoyed fun and laughter at our annual ‘Prize Bingo’. Thanks to Marion Dunn for handling the cards and money, also Robert, Margaret and May for tea and biscuits at half time. Thanks again for Supporting Hanover.

On Friday October 3, we had a very interesting illustrated talk on Montrose Air Strip (RAF). During the World Was by Neil Wernick, well worth a visit and ended with a nice cuppa. Ally Bally gave a Vote of Thanks.

Next Date Friday October 9 7pm, two lovely ladies Norma and Myra will be playing the Accordian, Singing and telling funny stories, All Welcome.

Bervie Lunch Club

Bervie Lunch Club meet once a fortnight in the Masonic Hall, King Street, Inverbervie, From 12-1.30pm.

They enjoy a two course lunch, usually Soup and Pudding costing £4. They next meet on Tuesday October 13, if you are interested and wish to book a space call Isabel on 01561 361007

Bervie’s Men’s Shed

Bervie’s Men’s Shed are working away behind the scenes getting their charity status and paperwork completed and lodged with the appropriate bodies. A Treasurer is needed for the group to move forward. It is not a position that requires financial qualifications, just the ability to balance a cheque book.

‘Meet the Committee’

Bervie is run off the backs of Committee’s, so we would like to introduce you to our Committees and their members.

This week we would like to introduce you to Moira Smith, Secretary of The Royal Burgh of Inverbervie Community Council. Married to Graham for 14 years and a mother of two, Moira is the Manager of Inverbervie Pre-School and in her spare time is an avid football fan supporting her local team, Aberdeen Football Club. She also enjoys gardening.

Moira’s favourite place is the Bervie beach front and she loves the sense of community here, and the fact that everyone helps each other.
