A worker was rushed to hospital after being seriously injured in an industrial accident outside Portlethen on Monday.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Hunting Energy Services, on the Badentoy Industrial Estate, around lunchtime after the man got his leg caught in machinery.

The Fire Service put chocks and blocks under machinery to keep it off ground.

This then allowed for paramedics on the scene to removed the injured man and take him to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The casualty is thought to be 45 years old and a trainee on his first day of work at Hunting Energy Services.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were alerted to an industrial accident at the Badentoy Industrial Estate in Portlethen at around 1.20pm on Monday.

“Enquiries have been conducted and the Health and Safety Executive have been advised.”

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has told the Mearns Leader that they are enquiring into the incident.

An spokesperson confirmed: “HSE is making initial enquiries.”
