Defeat and a win for Fordoun Galaxy FC

With the Welfare League having begun midweek games, Fordoun lost 4-2 to Black Abbot last Thursday.

Thomson and Deans had chances for Fordoun before McComiskie gave the visitors the lead ten minutes before half time.

In the last attack of the half Hector and McComiskie both hit the woodwork as Fordoun tried to add to their lead.

The Abbot got back into the game when they won a free kick on the right and when the ball arrived in the box it was converted to level the score.

Then there was a moment of controversy as a foul by Cruickshank which seemed to be outside the box was given as a penalty and the Abbot went ahead.

It was 3-1 to the Abbot shortly after as they broke up the park, beat the offside trap and scored. Cruickshank then saw red after a second booking but 10 man Fordoun kept looking for a way back into the match.

A fourth Abbot goal killed the contest but Keddie did pull one back for Galaxy.

Fordoun: I Welsh, A Stirling, Cruickshank, Cuthill, Pirie, Deans (Murray), R Stirling, Keddie, Hector, Thomson (R Welsh), McComiskie.

On Sunday, Fordoun had a 5-2 home win over City Royal.

Fordoun made a great start with R Welsh curling home a free kick after 9 minutes to give them the lead.

However, in 15 minutes City Royal got the ball to their big forward who was unmarked in the box and finished well to equalise. Five minutes later Royal went ahead when a defensive lapse saw the same player one on one with I Welsh and again he finished well.

For the second time in a week Galaxy found themselves behind after taking the lead but this time they found their way back into the game. McComiskie burst into the box before being fouled giving Hector the chance to equalise from the spot.

Five minutes into the second half and the task got harder for Fordoun when McComiskie was given two quick yellows and was sent off.

Third Fordoun substitute Murray then scored a brilliant half volley. Murray then turned provider when he beat his man to reach the bye line, cut inside and squared for Tough to tap in.

Thomson added a fifth to make the game safe.
