Do you have a head for heights or prefer badminton?

Although the summer holidays come to an end this week there’s certainly no sign of the activity ending at the ‘Active Hub’.

Over the past five weeks of the holidays the hugely successful ‘Active’ multi-sports ‘Hub’ has been running at Stonehaven Leisure Centre, offering young people, aged 12- 16 years, heaps of free sports including: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Rugby.

This Friday night, August 12, to end the holidays on a high and offer up something a little more challenging (and free), ‘The Wall’ is coming to Stonehaven Leisure Centre.

The Active Hub is open to everyone within the 12–16 age group, encourages genuine engagement and support for participants through a partnership approach.

Aberdeenshire Council Sports Development Officer, Fraser Govan, commented on the huge success of the programme over the holidays. “It’s been great to see so many kids getting involved and participating in sport over the summer. This project has allowed us to offer a range of free sporting opportunities in Stonehaven and now we are turning up the adrenaline levels with ‘The Wall’!” After this week the Active Hub will be open again every Friday night, 7-10pm from August 26 till Christmas.
